Expert review

This Pixar animated short, screened before Cars 2 in 2011, is set directly in the warm and reassuring world of Toy Story 3, featuring Bonnie's toys as main characters. The entire plot revolves around a gesture of friendship and solidarity, as the toys recreate a Hawaiian vacation for Ken and Barbie inside Bonnie's bedroom, leading to light and inventive comic situations. The only mildly notable moments are Ken's brief disappointment upon realizing he is not in Hawaii, and a slapstick ending where Ken and Barbie tumble into the snow with no lasting consequences. This short is fully appropriate for very young children and can be watched independently from age 3 onward without any parental guidance needed.

Synopsis

The toys throw Ken and Barbie a Hawaiian vacation in Bonnie's room.

Difficult scenes

Ken realizes he is not in Hawaii but in Bonnie's room and retreats into the backpack to cry out of disappointment. This scene is brief and played entirely for comic effect, without carrying any real emotional weight for young viewers. The final scene where Ken and Barbie fall off the porch and end up buried in the snow is a classic slapstick gag with no injury or real danger involved. The other toys quickly free them using a hair dryer, immediately confirming that there are no serious consequences.
