Our story

Choosing films worth watching together.

MovieByAge was born from a simple need, lived as a parent.

I am a father of two. Like many parents, I look for films that open real conversations at home: about courage, friendship, difference, the way we treat others. Not just “harmless” films, but films worth watching together.

Growing up in the 90s, I assumed the cartoons of my childhood were the coolest. Re-watching them today with my own children, I rediscovered how many were riddled with stereotypes or shortcuts that flew under the radar back then. It wasn’t always better before.

Many recent series carry rich, valuable messages, just hard to spot in a massive catalog.

The problem is that mainstream platform ratings talk about artistic quality, not about what matters to a parent: what is my child going to see, hear, take away from this?

MovieByAge was built to answer that question. In-depth research around every film, a clear parental analysis, an explained age, discussion angles. The goal is not to judge films for you, but to give you what you need to decide calmly, according to your own values.

MovieByAge is the tool I wish I had before every family movie night. I hope it helps you too.

Our method

How every guide is built

A detailed parental analysis

For every film, we document violence, language, sexuality, values conveyed, parental portrayals, social themes and family discussion angles, based on what is present in the work.

An explained age

Each recommendation is set in context: scene intensity, required maturity, themes addressed. When parental guidance makes earlier viewing reasonable, we say so clearly.

In-depth research

We cross-check multiple sources around each work to surface what matters for parents: sensitive content, reception, debates, values conveyed.

A neutral reading of debates

When a work is debated, we present the different viewpoints soberly. You decide according to your own values.
