Expert review

This short Christmas animated film follows Moon, a young owl accidentally trapped in a Christmas tree bound for Rockefeller Center in New York City, and Luna, a lost little girl with whom she forms a sweet bond during a wintry urban adventure. The tone is warm, gentle, and clearly aimed at very young children, with themes centered on friendship, solidarity, and finding one's way home for the holidays. Sensitive elements are minimal: a few brief moments where the two characters find themselves alone and disoriented in a big city may cause mild worry in very young viewers, but these scenes are quickly resolved by the film's reassuring atmosphere. Parents can confidently share this film with children from age 3 onward, and may use it as a gentle springboard to talk about staying close to trusted adults and asking for help when lost.

Synopsis

A young owl meets a lost little girl in New York City. Together, they try to get home for Christmas.

Difficult scenes

Moon and Luna find themselves alone and lost in the vastness of New York City, a large and unfamiliar urban environment. This situation of separation and disorientation may cause mild anxiety in more sensitive young viewers, who naturally identify with these two vulnerable characters trying to find their way. The tone remains very reassuring throughout, and resolution comes quickly.
