Expert review
This animated fantasy follows a warrior princess through grief, revenge, and moral change, with a dark adventure tone that is better suited to children who can handle emotionally intense stories. The main sensitive elements are the death of a parent, sword fighting, a seriously injured heroine, the threat of ceasing to exist, and a land of the dead that may feel unsettling for younger viewers. Based on the available plot, the violence appears stylized rather than graphic, yet the themes of loss, anger, and hatred seem central and recurring, which may affect children more than the action itself. There is no clear sign of sexual content or substance use, and language appears minimal. Parents may want to watch alongside children under 9 and be ready to talk about grief, revenge, and frightening imagery, since sensitive viewers could react strongly to the sadness and darkness of the journey.
Synopsis
After failing to avenge her father's murder, Princess Scarlet, wakes up in the "Land of the Dead." In this world filled with madness, if she does not achieve her revenge against her nemesis and reach the "No End Place," she will become "Void" and cease to exist. Can Scarlet find a way to live at the end of her endless journey?
Difficult scenes
The story begins with the murder of Scarlet's father and her desire to avenge him. Even if this event is not shown in a graphic way, it shapes the entire film and may lead younger viewers to ask questions about death, injustice, and anger. During her quest, Scarlet confronts an enemy with her sword, fails, and is left severely wounded and close to death. This sequence may be intense for sensitive children because it combines combat, believable danger, and the image of a heroine in serious physical distress. A major part of the story takes place in the Land of the Dead, a world with unfamiliar rules and a potentially unsettling atmosphere. The threat of becoming Void and ceasing to exist may sound abstract to adults, yet it can feel quite frightening to children who respond literally to fantasy imagery. The film appears to focus strongly on Scarlet's anger and on her choice between revenge and inner peace. This emotional conflict is not graphic violence, yet it may still feel heavy for younger viewers, especially those who are already sensitive to stories about grief or separation.
