Expert review

This live action family adventure expands the Dora universe into a bigger jungle quest with ruins, puzzles, chases, and treasure hunting, while keeping an upbeat and accessible tone overall. The main sensitive material comes from adventure peril, including a cave fire, ancient traps, falls, threatening villains and henchmen, tomb settings, and several moments where the heroes seem to be in genuine danger. The intensity stays moderate, with no graphic violence and no sexual content, but suspense appears regularly enough that younger or more sensitive children may be unsettled by scenes involving crushing walls, spikes, capture, and emotional separation. The story also includes some sadness when Dora loses confidence and fears losing the people and tools that help define her. Parents of sensitive viewers may want to watch alongside younger children, reassure them that the danger is highly stylized, and use the film to discuss bravery, teamwork, and self confidence.

Synopsis

Dora, Diego, and their new friends trek through the perilous dangers of the Amazonian jungle in search of the ancient and powerful treasure of Sol Dorado to keep it out of enemy hands.

Difficult scenes

Early in the adventure, Dora and Diego explore an ancient cave when a trap is triggered and causes a fire. The scene mixes flames, urgency, confusion, and the fear of not escaping in time, which may unsettle young children even though the presentation remains family friendly. Several sequences involve ruins and deadly traps, including closing walls, spikes below, burial spaces, and race against time puzzle solving. There is no graphic violence, but the repeated sense of danger may feel intense for children who are especially scared of confinement, falling, or being trapped. A villain pursues the group with henchmen and captures the heroes at one point in the story. These chase and capture scenes are not especially brutal, but younger viewers may still feel anxious because the characters seem temporarily powerless and under threat. The film also has a more emotional layer when Dora loses important items and goes through a crisis of confidence. Her tears, her fear of losing Diego, and her feeling that she does not know who she is without her usual guides may strongly affect children who are sensitive to separation, loss, or rejection.
