Expert review

Storks is a fast-paced, colorful animated family film with a broadly comedic tone, blending workplace humor with a zany adventure that appeals to children and parents alike. Sensitive elements are mild and infrequent: there are chase sequences involving a pack of wolves that are more endearing than frightening, a corporate rivalry with an authoritative but not truly menacing villain, and a quiet undercurrent around Tulip's backstory as a child raised without a family. These themes of loneliness and belonging are handled with lightness and warmth, never weighing down the film's overall playful atmosphere. Parents may wish to reassure younger viewers about the baby's fate during tense moments, and the film's adult-oriented humor makes it an enjoyable watch for the whole family.

Synopsis

Storks deliver babies…or at least they used to. Now they deliver packages for a global internet retail giant. Junior, the company’s top delivery stork, is about to be promoted when he accidentally activates the Baby Making Machine, producing an adorable and wholly unauthorized baby girl...

Difficult scenes

A pack of wolves appears several times attempting to seize the baby. Although these wolves are quickly portrayed as comic and affectionate rather than threatening, their sudden appearances and growling may startle younger or more sensitive viewers, particularly during the first ambush in the forest. Tulip gradually learns that she grew up alone among the storks because no one was able to deliver her to her family. This backstory of abandonment and identity is handled gently, but may prompt heartfelt questions from children who are sensitive to family themes. The villainous boss Hunter repeatedly tries to prevent the baby's delivery through authoritarian means, going so far as to have the infant taken away to live with penguins in order to suppress the incident. Though played for laughs, this moment of the baby being confiscated may worry younger viewers who have grown attached to her.
