Expert review

This animated sequel is a fast paced family adventure comedy with constant visual jokes and a highly stylized conflict that feels cartoonish rather than realistic. The main sensitive elements are threats of destruction, giant ice projectiles, brief captures, characters placed in danger, and tension around a villain who wants to force whole islands to evacuate, along with some mild dating humor. The intensity stays moderate because the action has very little real world weight, injuries are not graphic, and moments of fear are usually quickly softened by comedy, though some younger children may still be unsettled by the huge weapon, explosions, and the idea of entire communities being targeted. For most children, it is generally suitable from around age 6, but it is more likely to hold attention and feel fully enjoyable around age 7, especially if an adult is available to reassure them that the peril is exaggerated and playful.

Synopsis

Red, Chuck, Bomb and the rest of their feathered friends are surprised when a green pig suggests that they put aside their differences and unite to fight a common threat. Aggressive birds from an island covered in ice are planning to use an elaborate weapon to destroy the fowl and swine.

Difficult scenes

The story repeatedly returns to a threat against the islands, with huge ice balls launched like missiles and the idea of a weapon powerful enough to destroy the characters' homes. Even though the treatment is comedic and highly unrealistic, this disaster theme may unsettle children who are sensitive to large scale danger. A villain explains her plan to take over the neighboring islands and uses a giant machine to force everyone to leave. This creates real tension because the heroes realize that many characters are at risk, even if the overall presentation remains colorful and funny. During the infiltration plot, several characters are captured or trapped in physically uncomfortable situations involving cold, gadgets, and enclosed spaces. These scenes are not realistic or graphic, but they may worry younger viewers who react strongly when heroes lose control of a situation. The film also includes a side thread about speed dating and awkward flirting involving Red and Silver. It stays very mild and playful, but some children around 4 or 5 may find those scenes harder to understand or less entertaining than the main adventure.
